Happy Warrior
This is my painting of Governor Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’s choice for Vice President. I was a public school teacher and my parents were teachers. My aunt was a teacher who married a principal. Even my neighbors were teachers. I intimately understand the quality and caliber of people who become educators. There are few amongst us who have not been deeply affected by the self-sacrifice, dedication, and kindness of a teacher in their lives.
Tim Walz was a teacher. And he was a happy dedicated educator. And when you are working towards something that is righteous, that is inherently good and noble, you feel a sense of joy, a sense of happiness and fulfillment which is only known by the luckiest of humans who have found their true calling.
This happiness, this joy of finding and pursuing an advocation which is not only true to oneself, but also addresses the needs and future of this country’s citizens is what ultimately drove Tim Walz to his second calling, government (which should be, but rarely is, that singular form of work, self-sacrifice, and public education that can lead all of us to a better place).
When you work and fight for what is morally, ethically, and spiritually correct; you achieve a level of happiness which only comes from standing on the right side of history. Joy comes from fighting for women’s rights, civil rights, environmental rights, and for those amongst us who do not not have the resources or voices to fight for themselves.
Why vote for retribution and revenge? Why vote for anger and fear? Why not vote for joy and happiness and striving for a future that is better and safer for all of us and not just a self-anointed few?
Teacher, football coach, military veteran, congressman, governor; Tim Walz’s entire live has been dedicated to his community, his family, and his country.
…or you could vote for the weirdo who wants the government in your daughter’s pants.
